Bridges
When a tooth is missing, the neighboring teeth can drift out of position, and that can cause:
- » A change in your bite
- » Loss of additional teeth
- » Decay of the remaining teeth
- » Gum disease
If you've lost one or more teeth, we may recommend a bridge. A bridge is a group of interconnected crowns, which replace the missing teeth and support the surrounding teeth. When it's held in place by two crowns, a bridge can:
- » Lower the risk of gum disease
- » Help correct any bite misalignment
- » Improve clarity of speech
When done by a fully qualified cosmetic dentist, bridges are effective and durable, and can last over 10 years.
How is a bridge constructed?
- »We will first reshape the targeted teeth so they can accommodate the crowns
- »Then impressions will be taken of those teeth, and from the impressions, the crowns will be made
- »A temporary bridge will be inserted, giving you a feel of how the final bridgework will modify your mouth
- »A couple of weeks later, the temporary bridge will be removed and the permanent one inserted, adjusted and cemented into place.
After the bridge is cemented, you can again enjoy your favorite foods with confidence. Bridges enable you to avoid that sunken look that's caused by missing teeth, and by stabilizing that area they give us a more youthful appearance. We can smile with confidence again. Clear Align
Having a confident smile can change everything. And Invisalign makes the decision easy, because
you can get a stunning smile
without most people even noticing you're going through treatment. Your Invisalign treatment will
consist of a series of aligners
that you switch out about every two weeks. Each aligner is individually manufactured with exact
calculations to gradually
shift your teeth into place. Since your Invisalign system is custom-made for your teeth and your
teeth only, you know you'll end up
with a smile that truly fits.
Not only is Invisalign versatile, helping to correct a broad range of dental and orthodontic issues, but it really works. And there are over a million smiles to back that up. But a confident smile isn't the only benefit of correcting your dental issues with custom-made Invisalign aligners-your health can be positively impacted as well. Below are various conditions where Invisalign can help:
Overly crowded teeth: This occurs when there is simply a lack of room within your jaw for all of your teeth to fit normally. When left untreated, overly crowded teeth can cause dental decay, an increase in chances of gum disease, and can prevent the normal function of teeth. Widely spaced teeth: This occurs with abnormal continued growth of the jaw bone. When teeth are missing, this issue can also be caused by the other teeth shifting due to extra space. Spacing issues in teeth can cause some periodontal diseases.
Crossbite: This occurs when the upper and lower jaws are both misaligned. It causes one or more upper teeth to bite on the inside of the lower teeth, and can happen on both the front and/or the sides of the mouth. This issue can cause wear of the teeth, gum disease, and bone loss.
Overbite: What people commonly refer to as an "overbite" is known to dental professionals as "overjet." It occurs when the upper teeth bite over the lower teeth. It's typically caused by either genetics, bad oral habits, or over development of the bone that supports the teeth. This issue can lead to gum problems or irritation, and/or wear on the lower teeth and can cause painful jaw and joint problems.
Underbite: This occurs when the lower teeth protrude past the front teeth. It's usually caused by undergrowth of the upper jaw, overgrowth of the lower jaw, or both. It can also be caused by missing upper teeth. This issue can prevent the normal function of front teeth or molars which can lead to tooth wear. It can also cause painful jaw and joint problems.

Periodontal Exams
for Periodontal Disease:
Periodontal disease (AKA Gum Disease) is an infection of the tissues that support your teeth. Your gum tissue is not attached to the teeth as high as it may seem. There is a very shallow v-shaped crevice called a sulcus between the tooth and gums. Periodontal diseases attack just below the gum line in the sulcus, where they cause the attachment of the tooth and its supporting tissues to break down. As the tissues are damaged, the sulcus develops into a pocket: generally, the more severe the disease, the greater the depth of the pocket.
Periodontal diseases are classified according to the severity of the disease. The two major stages are gingivitis and periodontitis. Gingivitis is a milder and reversible form of periodontal disease that only affects the gums. Gingivitis may lead to more serious, destructive forms of periodontal disease called periodontitis.
It is possible to have periodontal disease and have no warning signs.
That is one reason why regular periodontal examinations are very important. Several warning
signs that can signal a problem:
- » Gums that bleed easily
- » Red, swollen, tender gums
- » Gums that have pulled away from the teeth
- » Persistent bad breath or bad taste
- » Permanent teeth that are loose or separating
- » Any change in the way your teeth fit together when you bite
- » Any change in the fit of partial dentures
